Yo guys, thinking of making a tank. I have an 80 dk and druid, and a 78 pally. Now I dont think I will really be raiding with him, just doing heroics, getting some badges, etc... So first question, out of the 3 I listed, which one is the easiest to tank with? Since I am just starting out, I want something not too hard to play, I would hate to mess up. Also I was wondering, which one would be easy to gear? Any advice would be great.|||They are all the same to gear, you do heroics with either one of them.
They are all easy to tank with. Sure, tanking needs a bit of getting used to, but it realy is not that difficult. Either the paladin or the druid. Both are stupendously easy (and boring) to tank with. DKs and Warriors are far more intricate.|||level 80 is possibly the WORST time to learn how to tank (with any class). As to which is the easiest, I've tanked with all 4 tanking classes and found them pretty much even. In terms of gearing, Warriors and Paladins are easiest to get gear for. You will find that there aren't a lot of 2-handers that are designed for tanks, which cuts down your options for a DK (unless you are frost which means trying to get 2 decent 1-handers - farming 1 red sword of courage was bad enough let alone 2 of them).
Druids have a similar problem as there isn't much leather tanking gear available, meaning you have to fight Rogues a lot of the time for non-tier pieces. The art of tanking isn't just learning which skills to learn, but so many other things. A good tank is always aware of what is happening anywhere in the room. They are usually the leaders in 5-mans and are expected to know each fight intimately, as well as the capabilities of your team. A very common misconception here. Warriors are considered the "best" tanks because they have always been there, and are probably the most trusted tank, going back to vanilla. DKs were considered amazing when wrath first came out because they were so overpowered. They then got nurfed and got a bad reputation from all the players who leveled them to get to level 80 ASAP.|||druid is easy to gear. you don't need to worry about defense cap and pretty much every agility stamina gear is viable feral tank gear. so if you have some feral gear for kitty, you can just re-gem stamina and it's tank gear. for a bear holding aggro is a snap in heroics, just macro maul with wipe then proceed to spam that one button. for single target bosses keep 5stack lacerate mangle and fff off cd. plate is harder to gear b/c they need 535 defense rating for heroic 5mans so it's going to take some time to get there. pally is good with aoe, warriors not so much, dks i never tanked with so idk how they do.|||Paladin is also very easy to tank with. If you're doing your rotation properly, then it's always the same and you always have only 1 ability off cd, so very easy to do it right once you get the hang of it. Also Ardent Defender talent is like a passive Guardian Spirit, every 2 mins you can "die" once and survive so it gives you a bit of a safety net.
