Some advice for a newb

ok, so I have played wow before, but didnt really know what what i was doing. I havnt played in about 8 months and now I am looking to get back into it.

So I am going to be rolling a Human Mage and would like to know a bit more about them... is there demand for them in raids? your experiances playing them? anything else you can tell me.

also I wont be able to start playing for 2 more months till i go back to college since i have no broadband connection at home, so i am trying to read up and learn as much as i can before then, partly so i can be a better player but mostly to pass the time that i am unable to play. What do you guys do when have to be offline for a long time? and where is the best place to learn to become good at this game?

any info is appreciated, thanks|||mages pull good DPS, so yes, they are sort of in demand, if you're good, people will want you.

if you want to learn to be good, hit up the official forums and maybe the wowhead forums, those are the two places i go anyways|||Mages are a cloth wearing dps which translates to low armor/high damage. If you can kill the mob before it makes it to you, you're doing well. If you can't, well, you could be in some problems. Unfortunately, the race/class you mentioned does not have a healing spell (draenei mages do) which means you'll want to carry a good amount of healing potions to keep yourself alive in a pinch.

Mages have a lot of raid utility and use. A good one will never want for a home.|||glass cannon's, PEWPEWPEW|||herbalism is a good profession to pair with mage, it gives you a healing spell.

and personally I don't recommend wasting a lot of time reading up on it, it is POSSIBLE the expansion will come in September, meaning you just learned a bunch of stuff that doesn't apply. And a lot of it won't make sense out of context.

When you get your broadband, get the game, log in, push the buttons and see what they do.|||Basically, Mages at end-game are one of the best classes to play as DPS. Pretty easy to play, low repair costs (Unless you have guild repairs it's a Godsend. Wife has 7g repair bills for 1 wipe in ICC 10 Heroic/ICC 25 and some ICC 25 Heroic gear. On my Shaman, I am in basically ToC10 gear and I have 9g repairs. Both Exalted with the repair person, btw.) and in general are pretty good on survivability.|||Quote:

Gear obtained from Icecrown Citadel (10/25 man) and Trial of The Crusader (10/25) or Trial of The Champion (5man)

TOC is Tier 9 and ICC is Tier 10.|||Quote:
