Looking for friends

I'm just starting my journey in WoW, and was wondering if anyone wanted to play together or invite me to a guild because playing by yourself is very boring. I'm only lvl. 5, but I'm currently levelling so if there's a certain lvl requirement please just tell me so I can get there. :)

Thanks.|||EU or US and what server (although as it only takes about 45 minutes to get to level 5 you could switch server)? Can't really help you without that information.......|||...and Horde or Alliance?|||Sorry, I'm on the Winterhoof server/realm and I'm a Night Elf Druid apart of the Alliance. If I can't find much friends now, do you know when the game starts to get a bit more interesting or start to pick up?

Thank you.|||Is Winterhoof a United States realm?

The starting areas get you to about level 10-12, and give you insight into the issues that your race is concerned about, its mostly alot of talk. Till cataclysm comes, you'll be playing old content up till level 60, though once it does arrive the leveling quests should be quite a bit more interesting and fun to do. In any case, since the new patch, the game should pick up around level 10 when you get to choose a specialization. For druids, you have Feral, Balance, and Restoration.

-Feral specializes in form based melee combat, and can take on a damaging or protecting role depending on your preference (Cat form acts like the subtlety specialization of the rogue class, Bear form acts like the protection specialization of the warrior class).

-Balance specializes in ranged spell based combat using the power of nature to subdue enemies, they also get a Moonkin form (looks like an antlered owl-bear) and can call forth ents to assist them in battle.

-Restoration specializes in healing in various ways using the power of nature, they get a Tree of Life form to use on occasion to empower these abilities.

You might already be aware of that though. I'd suggest Feral for the sake of survivability, but Balance is a good choice as well, and you can still use the forms, they just won't be as powerful. Restoration is ill advised as it doesn't level as fast as a damage specialization, but you can switch if you wish, though it gets costly after a few times.

I'd be willing to join you for awhile, but my main realm is Sisters of Elune US (a Role Playing Realm). If you don't want to post your character name, you can PM me.|||I found the game interesting from level 1 all the way to level 80 (multiple times). Just read all the quests, take your time, learn your character and read eveything you can get your hands on about the game. As you're on Winterhoof I won't be able to see you in game (I'm EU and you're US) but I'll let you into a little secret:

You'll see a massive change in the game around..... December the 7th!|||Thanks for the help guys. I just gotta' sit back and relax with my character and take stuff slow.

@ Mistro: So you wouldn't suggest the Restoration specialization? I don't mind that its slow to level, can I be powerful with it? What would you pick between Feral or Balanced if it came down to it.

Also what are capital cities? And where are they in Alliance territories? Which are the most populated?

Sorry, and one more thing - which professions do I suggest I get into? What are the most fun and get me money? (or gold haha)

Actually this is my last thing, I promise - What are all the chat channels? I don't understand them.|||http://www.wowpedia.org/Capital_city|||Restoration is a group-oriented specialization that focuses on healing, so its best taken if you're always going to be playing in a group, such as using the random dungeon finder option. You would be able to do decent damage with balance druid type attacks since you'll also use intellect, but its not optimal. Damage and utility is pretty much what counts while leveling, since killing usually gets most quests done faster, and utility stuff like stuns can help you manage multiple opponents. Druid was also my first class when I started WoW (Which might not have been a good idea, its a complicated class).

Personally, I went feral druid. Cat form is based around sneaking up on enemies and dealing heavy damage to them, but you can also handle multiple enemies if you're careful. Since you're feral, you also have bear form for really tough/alot of opponents, its very survivable, but lacks damage and utility that cat form has. You get cat form at lvl 8 now, so that should give you a peek into it before you decide your specialization. Cat form also helps you sneak past and avoid fights when you want to just get a quest item/objective or are low on health.

Balance is based on casting spells from afar similar to a wizard, but you also get some tools like roots/vines that hold an opponent in place or the ability to make animals fall asleep. Balance can also have decent healing power since they share the same primary stat with Restoration, but again, its not optimal. I've not tried this spec, but its on par with about any damage dealer. Its similar to what you're probably doing right now, but with more tools and power. They also get exploding mushrooms that work like remote mines in the expansion =p (released December 7th).

As for professions, you should take all the secondaries (cooking, fishing, first aid, and archaeology when it comes out December 7th), and for the primaries, it depends. If you want to make your own armor, you should pick up skinning and leather working. You can make armor for all druid specs, and some that can be sold to rogues, shaman, and hunters. Feral uses agility/strength/stamina most, Balance uses intellect, and Restoration uses intellect/spirit. It can be a bit rough to gain skill in because you need alot of leather for some pieces, but skinning also gives you some passive critical rating, which works well especially with cat form, but all specs can make use of it.

If you want to make money, mining is usually the best profession, but herbalism can be decent too. Engineering it the most fun profession since you can make all sorts of crazy gadgets such as exploding sheep, death rays, shrink rays, rocket launchers, etc. They're not always reliable, but usually are marked if they have side-effects. Engineering is a gold-sink though, its pretty expensive to level, but not as bad as Enchanting (where you destroy green level or higher items to add stats to other items), if you take mining with it, its not so bad. Mining also gives a passive stamina boost, so it works well with bear form especially.

The chat channels are shown when you enter a new zone. Apparently you can now press "O" and select chat from the tabs and it shows which channels are available to you. Generally you can type / and then the channel number to talk in that channel, like "/1 need help on x quest" to send it to the zone's general chat (Which is almost always channel 1).|||So Restoration Specs aren't very powerful?
