It depends. The World of Warcraft battlechest has both classic World of Warcraft and The Burning Crusade expansion bundled in it. You can find it in most stores which carry games. This is a good start. But paying for an account upgrade online and downloading it is pretty much the same if you don't care about having a row of boxes to stare at.

Just remember, must have classic. Adding expansions require classic, and each previous expansion, you cannot skip purchasing any of them to go on to later content. Confused? You can't buy Classic, skip Burning Crusade, and upgrade straight to Wrath of the Lich King. Somehow, someway, for a fully upgraded account, you're going to need to purchase them all.

But to begin, you don't need anything but Classic World of Warcraft, unless you have your heart set on a draenei or blood elf as your character.|||Quote:

Personally, I like to have the discs on hand in case of catastrophe (my house is hit by a nuclear explosion or the cats eat the computer, that sort of thing). When new Recruit a Friend accounts were set up here we bought two Battlechests. They're surprisingly inexpensive (think they were about 8.95 each on Amazon) and you probably don't need Wrath of the Lich King until you've levelled your characters up quite a bit.

Come to think of it, in case of a nuclear explosion I wouldn't likely still have the discs, would I? Probably wouldn't need them either, come to think of it.|||You're an Engineer dammit!

You will survive any nuclear explosion by using your handy shield belt...or something!|||Quote:

Need another three Nukebombium Bars to make it and there's none on the AH and the Transmutation process takes soooooooo long........|||I got a bank full...

(Modhax)|||I like the row of pretty boxes. And I like watching visitors' confusion as they try to figure out the logic of:

World of Warcraft x3

The Burning Crusade x3

Wrath of the Lich King x3|||Quote:

We've got a shelf full too. And I love it when visitors (like yours) say 'But you mean you had to buy a whole new game for each one of you that's playing????? How much did each one cost you??????' They obviously think we're insane. Maybe we are. But it's an enjoyable kind of insanity.|||Quote:

Meh, those are usually the same people who don't see a problem with spending 40 dollars a week on their beer habits and 70 dollars a week on their cigarette habits.

Mentalities are weird. My son used to belong to a really great organization, and during the two years he was a member, I would drive him 50 miles one way, and then wait around for three-four hours until he was done, and drive back. My sister in law said I was crazy... I turned around and asked her how it was any different from them driving their girl all over Kingdom Come to play sports, waiting for hours, etc.
