internet

guys how fast internet do i need to play wow? i will be dungeon leveling...

i need to know what kind of internet i need with details..

im living with a familly right now...they have a wireless modem which i use sometimes, but i reckon its slow i dont know how to check how fast is it i have to ask them ccause my laptop is brocken atm...

pls tell me everything about this|||You'll need better than dialup or Wireless, unless you are fairly close to the router and or have a strong signal.

Suggest DSL, cable or some Broadband high speed type internet.

The game does not use alot during play but ptches are really large.|||Do you mean that they have a wireless router connected to a broadband connection or use the (in my opinion) horrible mobile broadband type of connection? You really need to be more specific.

Your question has 2 answers.

If you're talking about how fast should your connection be for the large patches then 1Mb broadband is about as slow as you can get away with (leave it running overnight to download the really big patches).

If you're talking about how fast should your connection be to actually play the game, then that depends on data round trip times (ping). Anything slower than 300ms for a round trip is OK for WoW.

The wierd thing is that dial-up is actually fine for playing WoW but you'll be crippled by downloads whereas satellite internet is fine for downloads (except when it's cloudy and you'll get charged for excess usage) but the ping is so high that you cant play the game.

Mobile broadband is just awful for gaming full stop, with slow speeds and pings of up to 2 minutes (I'm not joking).

The best advice: Download the free trial and see what happens.
